Today, our family celebrated Andy Park… aka “Mr. Christmas”. For those that think we’re crazy for doing what we do, Mr. Park lives in England and has been celebrating Christmas every day since July 14th, 1993. So every day for thirty years, he has mincemeat pies for breakfast, watches the Queen’s Speech at 3:00, opens a present and Christmas card that he gives to himself, and has roast turkey and potatoes and sprouts for dinner with a bottle of champagne. To us, he takes our level of commitment to a whole new level!

Over the course of time, he’s gone through 37 ovens from his Christmas dinners and 23 video recorders from watching the Queen’s Speech. He’s eaten 5,100 turkeys, 94,000 mince pies, and opened 204,000 Christmas crackers. And that was the count as of a decade ago.

So for our family festivities today, we learned all about him and celebrated alongside him the traditions of how he celebrates each day. We even sent him our family Christmas card. We trekked as a family to Rice Park (in honor of a “Christmas Park”) to check out the lights, then came home for our Christmas feast, and wrapped up the day with watching a show on “Christmas Obsessives” and the ways in which Mr. Park and five other people go just a bit crazy for Christmas. Needless to say, we’ll be sticking with our family’s “low key” traditions of just 25 Dates of Christmas 🙂
